We've received some great questions about South Dakota's Shortest Triathlon, so we wanted to share the answers!
Can my child wear a life jacket during the swim?
Absolutely! Safety comes first. You're welcome to bring your own life jacket or other approved flotation device. We will not have life jackets available at the event, so please bring one if your child needs it.
The flyer mentions Strider bikes. Can my child ride their own pedal bike instead?
Thanks to our friends at Strider, they'll be providing bikes in multiple sizes for both kids and adults! We encourage everyone to use the Strider bikes—it keeps the event simple, levels the playing field, and adds to the fun for participants of all ages.
If I need to swim or run alongside my 3- or 5-year-old, do I need to register too?
Since this is a fundraiser benefiting the BHSU Triathlon Team and the Black Hills Gold Swim Team, we encourage everyone participating to register if possible. That said, we completely understand that many young children will need a helping hand. Our goal is to make this a fun, positive experience for every family, and we'll do our best to accommodate parents who are assisting their little ones.
This event is all about having fun, making memories, and introducing people of all ages to the sport of triathlon. Whether you're 3 or 83, we can't wait to see you at the starting line!
If you have any other questions, drop them in the comments or send us a message—we're happy to help!
