South Dakota's Shortest Triathlon is made possible by the incredible support of volunteers who are passionate about building a healthier, stronger community. Whether you can give a few hours or spend the day with us, your time and enthusiasm will help create an unforgettable experience for participants and their families.
No previous experience is necessary—we'll provide the guidance you need and match you with a role that fits your interests and abilities.
There are many ways to get involved, including:
Registration and participant check-in
Course marshals and athlete guidance
Swim transition assistance
Bike and run course support
Finish line celebration
Medal and award distribution
Water stations
Sponsor and vendor assistance
Kids activity area
Event setup and teardown
Parking and guest assistance
Information booth
As a volunteer, you'll:
Support youth athletics in our community
Help create a fun, safe, and welcoming event
Meet new people and work alongside other community volunteers
Be part of an exciting family-friendly event
Make a positive impact on participants of all ages
Friendly attitude and willingness to help
Ability to stand or walk for portions of your shift (depending on your assignment)
Arrive on time for a brief volunteer orientation
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather
Most volunteer shifts are between 2 and 4 hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the festival before or after your assignment.
We encourage businesses, schools, sports teams, civic organizations, and community groups to volunteer together. It's a great opportunity for team building while giving back to the community.
